Sept 9th, 1949 Normann and Magda Kristensen started to produce traditionally Norwegian seafood in the basement of their house at the island of Herdla. Company Herdla Fiskemat was founded.

Second generation Kjell and Anny Kristensen joined the company, and in 1960 the first factory was built.

As the first salmon company in Norway, Herdla Fiskemat achieved the prestigious Quality Prize by the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries in 1993. The companys owners Anny and Kjell Kristensen with the prize.
